- Three Night Itinerary
Suitable for intermediate to advanced riders only.

Day 1: Arrival
Non-riding dayYippee, you’re off to Margaret River today! Whether you drive, take the bus or fly, you’ll need to arrive at your hosts’ gorgeous property between 5 and 7pm. A delicious al fresco welcome dinner will be served while you get to know your fellow guests, your hosts, Paul and Fiona, and their hardworking team. Then it’s into the canvas bell tents to get some sleep.
-
Day 2: Irishman’s Pool
3 to 4 hours in the saddleWaking up to a chorus of birdsong from the surrounding eucalypt forests, you’ll emerge from your teepee to refuel with good coffee and a cooked breakfast. Then you’ll meet your horse for the week and head out for a three-hour ride to Irishman’s Pool through Rapids Conservation Park. Traversing sandy-bottomed tracks, there is plenty of time to become acquainted with your trusty steed. Depending on the weather, it’s worth having a plunge in Irishman’s Pool before enjoying a picnic lunch.
Returning to Paul and Fiona’s property, you’ll be treated to a Welcome to Country by proud Waljin woman, Mitchella (Mitch) Hutchins. After an afternoon spent with Mitch, you’ll feel spiritually connected to the bush that you’ll ride through for the next four days. With eyes wide open, you’ll appreciate the land, flora and fauna through an Indigenous person’s eyes and understand how their relationship with their surrounds is one of mutual respect. Globetrotting had some spine-tingling moments in Mitch’s company and believe it’s an incredibly special off-the-horse highlight to this colourful and sensory-overloaded itinerary.
Dinner will be prepared by local catering legends who specialise in hearty farm-style, regional food.
-
Day 3: Berry Farm
4 to 6 hours in the saddleThis morning you’ll mount up and ride overland to the iconic Berry Farm, which is a highlight for the throngs of tourists who visit Margaret River. You’ll ride through neighbouring properties and conservation parks and gain a wonderful appreciation of the native bush that surrounds Margaret River. Your guide, Paul Brennan, is a wealth of knowledge and will keep you thoroughly entertained.
This is a three-and-a-half hour ride with a morning tea break. You should arrive at the Berry Farm by 12pm, where you’ll enjoy a lovely lunch of gourmet platters. Following lunch, you’ll have some time to peruse the shop and gardens of this iconic tourist hot-spot, before heading back to base either on horseback or in the support vehicle if you’re feeling a little weary. Dinner will be enjoyed under the twinkling night sky.
-
Day 4: Boranup Karri Forest and Polocrosse
3 to 5 hours in the saddleAfter another stomach-filling breakfast, you’ll load the horses into the truck and set out for the Boranup Karri Forest. You’re welcome to follow the truck in your own vehicles, or use the included transport options should you wish. This beautiful ride through the tall timbers of the karri forest will take your breath away. Towering karri trees, some well over 60 metres in height, undulate across the valley.
With sunlight streaming onto their smooth trunks, this forest is a feast for the senses – wildflowers, orchids and fungi (in season) coat the forest floor, the fresh smell of eucalyptus fills your nostrils and the sounds of native birds punctuate the silence. This will be one magical ride, globetrotters. Lunch is packed in your saddle bags today so you can take a break whenever the time seems right!
Later, after a siesta back at base, you’re invited to mount up and try your hand at polocrosse, as tutored by Paul, who played polocrosse for Australia for a number of years. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience this fast-paced game in a safe environment on Paul and Fiona’s home field. Then another hearty dinner awaits.
-
Day 5: St Margaret’s Vineyard
4 to 6 hours in the saddleWake up to another day in globetrotting paradise! After a sumptuous breakfast, you’ll be reunited with your horse, then Paul will take you cross-country, weaving along narrow bush tracks until you arrive at St Margaret’s Vineyard, one of the many vineyards that flank the Margaret River township. There will be plenty of opportunities to trot and canter along bushland tracks and through the vineyards.
Once you catch your breath, you’ll be treated to a barbecue lunch under a grove of trees in a park-like setting with a local wine tasting. Then it’s another stunning forest ride back to Paul and Fiona’s property for dinner.
-
Day 6: Beach day and departure
2 hours in the saddleSadly, it’s your final day at this beautiful home away from home. But the adventure ends with a BIG bang, that’s for sure. This morning you’ll set off for the deserted white sandy shores and emerald green waters of Forrest Beach. No doubt you’ll fulfill a lifelong dream when you find yourself cantering uninhibited on the beach! If you like, you can unsaddle your horse and take them into the calm, turquoise sea, and if you’re super lucky you might even spot dolphins and whales.
For those wishing to depart straight from this beach near Busselton, the ride will wrap up at around 12 to 1pm, and you can head off after that. Alternatively, you can return to the property for a final lunch, which will also give you the chance to have a leisurely pack-up.
At around 4pm, you’ll say your fond farewells to the horses and humans who have become firm friends over the last couple of days, and depart for your onward travels.
-
Non-riders
Non-riders on the Margaret River Ride will have just as much fun as those in the saddle, with the freedom to explore this celebrated region at their own pace. We recommend hiring your own car so you can venture off-site during the day – think world-class wineries, pristine beaches, farm-fresh produce, art galleries and forest walks – then rejoin the group for shared lunches and any off-the-horse activities included in the itinerary. With beautiful accommodation as your base and the whole of Margaret River at your fingertips, it’s an idyllic escape for partners or friends who prefer their adventures on foot (or with a wine glass in hand) rather than horseback.
The non-rider price is inclusive of meals, accommodation and activities other than horse riding (Berry Farm, beach, vineyard lunch etc). Assistance can be provided with coordinating external tours.
Transfer information
Please note
You will need to organise your own transport to and from Margaret River. The drive from Perth to Margaret River is approximately three hours. Various car hire companies and public bus services (South West Coachilines, TransWA) are available from Perth. You can also fly direct from Melbourne to Busselton Airport in Margaret River.
On the ride, all transfers are included in the cost, including a final transfer from the beach ride on the last day to either Jesters Flat or your Margaret River accommodation. Private vehicles can be parked at Jesters Flat for the duration of the ride.
Accommodation
At Jesters Flat, you’ll sleep in five-metre bell tents that blend comfort with a touch of adventure. These fully appointed, teepee-style glamping tents come complete with cosy bedding, soft towels and ambient lighting, creating a beautifully relaxed retreat after a day of riding. Hot showers and flushing toilets are just a one-minute stroll away, so you can enjoy the wilderness without sacrificing creature comforts.
Food
Each morning begins with a continental breakfast, while dinners might include classics like lasagne, beef bourguignon and indulgent desserts such as sticky date pudding or citrus tart, all paired with red wine, Jesters Flat’s homegrown Sauvignon Blanc and a selection of craft beers. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available at every meal, along with dairy- and lactose-free milks, butters and spreads, but guests with additional dietary requirements will need to bring their own provisions.

Hands down my favourite GT ride ever 🤍
From the absolute fun of riding with such a great group of GT gals, to the food, the horses, the guides and the vibe — this trip had it all.
Lucy was incredible in the kitchen. So generous, so thoughtful, and every meal was a highlight. Accommodation and tents were spot on too — hot water bottles on cold nights = heaven 🙌
Huge love to our guides Michelle, Linda, Issy and Maree — genuinely fun, super engaged, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Just a joy to ride with and laugh alongside all week.
Paul and Lucy were the ultimate hosts in every way (including enthusiastically pouring Jesters Flat tipples 🍷). Paul’s ability to pivot and tailor things on the fly meant the trip always felt thoughtful and bespoke — everyone was seen, considered and included. Even last‑minute yoga made an appearance and was perfect.
The horses… wow. Rode three very different (and wonderful) horses — from young and cheeky, to springy and keen, to a beach day queen who had her ears pricked and heels up the whole way. You can feel how loved and happy this mob is.
All up, an exceptional week and truly the best GT experience I’ve had so far. Already wishing I was back in the saddle 💫🐎

If you’re even thinking about doing the Margaret River Ride with Globetrotting at Jesters Flat, just book it. Absolutely unforgettable.
The staff were beyond incredible: organised, supportive, fun, and somehow managed to make all of us feel looked after while creating such a great atmosphere the entire week. (Thanks Linda, Michelle, Marie, Izzy and Yvonne!) And the food from Lucy was the perfect fuel for our days in the saddle – so tasty.
The variety of rides was honestly amazing. One day we were winding through thick forest trails, the next riding through wineries, and then cantering along the beach before swimming the horses in the ocean. We all felt like kids again. Every day felt completely different and equally spectacular – although learning polocrosse from Paul was definitely a highlight. Who knew we were all so competitive (and uncoordinated)?
The glamping tents were also pretty special – proper bougie comfort, complete with hot water bottles to take the edge off the cold chill!
But one of the best parts was the group of women on the ride. Such an inspiring, hilarious, supportive bunch of humans who made the whole experience even more special.
And of course… my trusty steed Herbie (aka Herbaceous) deserves his own special mention. Absolute legend of a horse who carried me through every adventure and somehow made me look like a pro. I’m slightly obsessed.
Already wondering how the 10 of us can organise a reunion ride back at Jesters next year.

‘This ride exceeded all expectations. Beautiful countryside, such lovely people and beautiful horses. I loved seeing my old horse friends of 30 years and we all had such great time.
I rode Bates and she was fantastic. I wished I could bring her home! All the horses were so well trained and very well matched with their riders.
Paul and Fiona run an exceptional place and had such lovely staff who all seemed to love what they do. Nothing was too much trouble. I loved all the extra things: the art gallery, berry farm, indigenous experience with Mitch, farrier, cocktail party, polocrosse. And the beach ride was sensational!
A friend once told me that with holidays, if you had a great time, then it wasn’t expensive. This one was worth every cent. I can’t recommend it highly enough.’
Lara
Perfect girl’s trip – we had a group of 6 friends from around the world and now have another 6 amazing friends. A dusty life is a good life.

‘The Margaret River Ride was so well organised. The hosts, guides, horses, and food were amazing. I loved it! Lucy was an amazing cook who went out of her way to cater for all dietary needs. I rode Ollie and Violet and loved them both; they were so willing and well-behaved. The guides and support staff were brilliant. Our head guide, Emma, was the most amazing horsewoman and all-around great woman, ensuring fun and total safety for both riders and horses. Every day was a favourite, especially polo, cross swimming with the horses. I also loved all the extras in the evening, gaining a new understanding of the local people, jewellery making with our horses’ tail hair, cocktails, and piano!’
Jan L
‘The Margaret River Ride was just fabulous; it totally exceeded my expectations. The horses, owners, and staff were so professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. It was an amazing five days, full of so many extra activities which made every day different. The riding and countryside are varied, and the horses are very well trained and capable. It is the best riding I have done in Australia, and it was a great holiday experience. And I haven’t mentioned the food and wine, which were five-star. A must do again!’
Julie S
‘The Margaret River Ride is an absolutely awesome destination offered by Globetrotting. The hosts are simply gorgeous, warm, welcoming and genuine. Every part of the experience is exceptional: the horses and guides are of the highest quality, and the glamping tents are spotless. The club room has an authentic, rustic feel that makes it a real standout. The meals are exceptional; all dietary needs were catered for beautifully. Fresh, locally sourced produce, including fish and eggs, and every meal is a delight. The wine and drinks selection, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, is fantastic, and you honestly do not want for anything during your stay. I would highly recommend the Margaret River Ride; it is the perfect blend of adventure, comfort and heartfelt hospitality.’

‘The Margaret River Ride was truly unforgettable! The accommodation was fantastic; the tents were very spacious (with standing room!) and held up beautifully even in heavy rainfall, strong winds, and hail. The beds were super comfortable, and everything we needed was provided for. The food was another highlight of the trip. Lunches and dinners were varied, plentiful, and always delicious, leaving us very happy with the standard of meals served. I had the pleasure of riding Melman, Bella, and Romy. Melman was my favourite—hilariously uncoordinated and incredibly clumsy, but in the funniest way! Bella excelled at polocrosse, despite my own lack of coordination, and Romy was fantastic on the beach ride. The guides were exceptional, going above and beyond to ensure we were all happy and comfortable. They worked well as a team and had extensive knowledge of the trails and horses, which made the experience even more enjoyable. My favourite day was the ride through the Boranup forest. It was the first day we had sunshine, and riding through that gorgeous forest was simply incredible. I can’t wait for my next adventure!’
Loretta B
‘This ride was a complete package. Great hosts, a great setting, and the matching of riders to amazing horses made for an unforgettable experience. The guides were excellent, and the accommodation was superb—yes, real beds in the biggest tent you’ve ever seen! We enjoyed great food and drinks, especially since we were at a winery after all. All the riding destinations were exceptional, with Boranup Forest being particularly special. Paul and Fiona went out of their way to ensure we had the best stay, and indeed, we did. An afternoon of polocrosse was a hoot under the watchful eye of our ref/coach, Paul. The skills gap was high, but so was the enthusiasm! I would happily play again. We loved the ride so much that we are already planning to return!’
Sharon R
‘This was our return visit to Margaret River, and we loved it just as much as the first time! Fiona and Paul are wonderful hosts, making it feel like a reunion with old friends. The horses are lovely and well-cared for, and all the guides, especially Emma, the head guide, manage a diverse range of riding abilities excellently. Cantering riders enjoyed stretches at the front, while those preferring to walk and trot could go at their own pace at the back. Everyone felt happy, safe, and well looked after. Margaret River is a beautiful part of Australia, with the ride through Borana Forest on the second day being particularly stunning. This was followed by an exciting game of polo-cross in the afternoon! Alex provided delicious food, and we enjoyed the rustic accommodation at Rosa Brook Farm. We truly love our time here and wouldn’t hesitate to return for a third visit!’

‘As a mum of two young children and working full-time, life gets busy. I loved riding in my teens and longed to jump on and go for a ride. Last year, my best friend, with whom I grew up riding, and I both turned 40 and decided what a way to celebrate! After three amazing days with beautiful horses, an incredible group of people, plenty of laughs, amazing food, and so many new experiences, we boarded the bus home. My best friend looked over to me and said, “I’m so pleased we both had the best time.” I burst into tears and said that for me, it was so much more; it was a few days where I felt I reconnected with my own identity outside of being a mum, a leader at work, and a wife. This experience has been so much more to me than “just a few days away”; it’s been life-changing.’
Tracey S
‘The Margaret River Ride was incredible in every way. The accommodation in glamping tents was wonderful, stylish and extremely comfortable. All the meals were exceptional. We had our own personal chef who was passionate and talented, using produce that was fresh and in-season and delicious. Our wonderful guides were also exceptional! They were lovely, authentic, professional, safe, efficient, intelligent, knowledgeable and fun. The horses were well-loved and trained very well for our rides, making it hard to say goodbye. The hospitality that Paul and Fiona offered was second to none. We were treated like family and made to feel at home immediately.’
Angela K
‘The Margaret River Ride was, quite simply, the best holiday and horse riding experience of my life. The horses were exceptional, and the rides were very safely and respectfully led. The scenery was lovely; accommodation and hospitality (including being hosted by the owners each evening) were as memorable as the riding. The peak experience for me was on the last day, when we rode and swam the horses at the beach – a beautiful reward for a week of long rides – and then… the dolphins came to swim and play with us! This holiday healed and changed me for the better; I now know what to expect from horse riding holidays, and I will be surprised and delighted if any experience could ever top this one. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to the entire team. What you’re offering is very special, and I was honoured to be in your company for five days.’
Kristine S
‘After a long hiatus out of the saddle, the Margaret River Ride was a perfect reintroduction. All concerns were alleviated from the moment I arrived: beautiful surroundings, experienced and understanding staff, and extremely well-trained horses matched to each rider. This 5-day trip catered perfectly to all riders from intermediate to advanced. It was the best way to kick off my first-ever Globetrotting adventure—a toe-dipping exercise that has sparked great interest. The Margaret River Region is gorgeous and well known for its vineyards, forests, and the fact that it borders the beautiful Indian Ocean. All these are embraced in this ride. A highlight was an afternoon of learning the rudimentary rules of Polocross with Paul and then getting to have a go at a game. We were enthusiastic amateurs; it was extremely good fun. Jesters Flats is such a beautiful place to stay; the food was amazing, and the hosts were warm, welcoming, and hilarious company. I hit the jackpot with all the other people on our ride; everyone gelled right from the beginning. Being able to begin and end each day surrounded by such great company was an unexpected pleasure. I can truly say I would recommend this ride.’
Jasmine H
‘This ride was everything I had heard about and more! I loved spending time with the special family that has lived and worked on this property for generations. What a wonderful experience! This was my first time bringing my non-riding partner, and now he gets why I’m so into my Globetrotting experiences—more, more, more!’
Julie J
‘The Margaret River Ride is a must-do! I was so fortunate to get the last spot on this ride with my friend. A perfect time of the year to visit WA and enjoy the beautiful scenery that is on offer. Paul and Fiona were the most perfect hosts; the whole team were fun, friendly, and genuinely helpful and courteous. Their knowledge of the area and rides is truly wonderful; they made our group so comfortable each and every day. The horses, accommodation, food, and overall location were all amazing! Every day was truly fantastic! The Beach Ride stood out for me. At the end of the day, I had tears in my eyes, farewelling my beautiful mare, Romie. She gave me a beautiful gallop along the beach and topped it off with a wonderful cool dip. I am hooked on globetrotting now, and I am already eyeing my next ride!’
Kieren C
‘I have been riding horses for about 18 months now, and I definitely class myself as a nervous rider. However, the beautiful horses I rode, the ladies who coached and cheered me on, the stunning sights, and the opportunities I had helped me grow in more ways than I ever could have anticipated! That last day, putting all my trust in Frida and cantering freely up and down the beach was the best feeling ever; it was the first time I’ve really felt one with my horse.’
Sharon G
‘This was my first horse riding holiday and it exceeded my expectations. The glamping accommodation was super comfortable and very clean. They matched me perfectly with my ideal horse, who was soft, responsive, and forward, exactly what I asked for. I did the five-day ride, and there were so many amazing experiences, but the highlights for me were the afternoon spent playing polocrosse and the beach ride. I highly recommend it and wouldn’t hesitate to go again. Since getting home, I haven’t stopped talking about how much fun I had with my friends. It really was the trip of a lifetime, and I’ve ticked off a bucket list adventure. Thank you!’
Nina U
‘This ride was amazing; the horses were so well cared for and perfect to ride and paired up the riders and horses brilliantly. The guides were fantastic, great fun and very knowledgeable; they took great care of us. Every day was filled with fun and adventure, from cantering through natural bushland and the wonderful forests, a ride through the grape vines of a winery, to playing a fun game of Polocross together, and not forgetting the final day where we had a wonderful canter along the white sandy beach followed by a bareback swim with the horses in the crystal clear waters of WA where we had a surprise visit by a friendly dolphin. Paul and Fiona are the best hosts; they shared meals with us and made sure everyone was happy and enjoying themselves, they provided everything that we required and nothing was too much trouble for them. The property is in pristine condition and very well maintained; we were made to feel most welcome. The meals were absolutely delicious, with so much variety and well presented. This ride is excellent; I highly recommend it and I would love to do it again very soon!’
