Set in the easternmost corner of Botswana, the Northern Tuli Game Reserve is right at the heart of an almost 6,000-square kilometre unfenced, trinational conservation zone. It’s home to an abundance of free-roaming wildlife, including around 1200 elephants, all manner of plains game, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, ostrich, African wild dog and hyena. Tuli is a geological and historical hotspot, too, with ruins, fossils, rock formations and legends galore.
The ONLY way to get up close and personal with African wild game is on horseback, taking your place in the animal kingdom rather than observing it as an outsider. You’ll be expertly guided by a team who know this land and its creatures inside-out. Long, windswept canters, spine-tingling encounters and moments of deep serenity abound.
Based at a series of campsites that have to be seen to be believed, this adventure in the ‘Land of Giants’ combines thrilling experiences in untouched nature with plush safari accommodations and impeccable hospitality.
Imagine waking up to the African dawn chorus, mounting up for an extraordinary day’s riding punctuated by a relaxed lunch and perhaps a siesta or a dip in the pool, then heading out on foot in the evening for sundowners overlooking the savannah while a lavish dinner is prepared for you at camp. THIS is The Tuli Safari, and it will set your heart on fire.

‘The Tuli Safari was truly a special experience. The guides and staff were wonderful; the horses were happy and well cared for, and we loved every minute. Every ride was a new adventure—really fun riding, combined with amazing animal sightings and beautiful scenery. We loved the friendly and curious zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and warthogs, and the elephants, lions, and leopards kept things exciting. Botswana is an incredible place!’

‘The wild and beautiful Mashatu game reserve, where the animals can roam freely, is an incredible place to explore on horseback. On our first day, we saw elephants, zebras, and warthogs, among many other animals. Over the coming days, we would also encounter giraffes, lions, and leopards, adding to the incredible variety of wildlife we experienced. With the air scented with wild sage, we cantered across sweeping plains, made river crossings, and rode through bush, past ancient Baobab and Mashatu trees and around majestic sandstone rock formations. My beautiful horse, Scooby, was the perfect companion for this adventure. Our guides looked after us so well and we learnt so much from them about the animals, the area and its history. The three campsites are all very special, and at each we enjoyed delicious food and a comfortable bed. This holiday is so well planned with wonderful riding time and the opportunity for game drives as well as bush walking. We did and saw so much over the eight days, and it was a truly magical experience.’

‘We had an incredible time! The Tuli Safari Lodge was incredible, and the tree house was amazing and so much fun. The ladies knocked out high-end meals and delicious desserts, all made from scratch; no processed foods at all— even the ice cream was homemade. I was blown away by the standard of cooking that was literally produced from a mud hut. It was literally like a five-star restaurant in LA. I rode Harley and Monato. I was so grateful and privileged to ride these boys and was incredibly overjoyed by their spirit and health. Poloko and Tsauni were the best guides, super knowledgeable. There were many standout experiences, but one that stood alone was seeing 27 elephants playing in the Limpopo River and hearing them trumpeting!’
