Is Banff on your bucket list? The real adventure lies beyond the park borders! Barricaded by impenetrable mountains, we’ve found landscapes every bit as breathtaking as those inside the national park, but far away from the tourist crowds. This is Banff’s wild heart as it was meant to be seen: peaceful, pristine, and framed by two pricked ears.
Instead of shuffling between viewpoints, you’ll dive into the undiscovered backcountry: mountain prairies where you can stretch out into long canters, shimmering aspen forests, cliffs and crevasses where waterfalls roar, rivers and lakes that mirror the shifting summer light.
And let’s not forget the mountains themselves, with their timeworn boulders, stubble of lodgepole pines, windswept granite spines, and rolling wildflower meadows. Just imagine climbing alpine slopes where snow-capped peaks kiss the sky as elk graze on the prairie below, bighorn sheep scale distant cliffs, bison snooze on riverbanks, and wild horses flit through the timberline.
This land carries stories. Your guides will point out teepee rings and the signs of thousands of years of Indigenous culture, still alive today. You’ll ride along pioneer routes and dive into the history of the famed Ya Ha Tinda Ranch, right next door. And after each day’s adventures, you’ll return to comfy cabins, hearty homemade fare, and a crackling campfire.
With a mountain-bred herd of savvy trail horses to choose from, and guides who know every bend in the hundreds of trails at their doorstep, the Banff Border Ride is your ticket to the real wilderness!

What our valued Globetrotters say about the Banff Border Ride

Kristy. B
‘From the moment I was picked by our guide, think authentic cowboy driving a big truck, Yellowstone vibes—I knew this trip would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it did not disappoint! Arriving at the ranch, we were welcomed to our cosy cabins, complete with a lovely wood fire that kept us warm all night. Waking up to beautiful birdsong and the sound of horses in the crisp air, I felt excited knowing we would explore the stunning Canadian Rockies. We encountered an abundance of wildlife, including elk, eagles, wolves, and wild sheep. Ben was the perfect cowboy, confidently guiding us through the trails while sharing his extensive knowledge of the land and its history. The horses were steady and sure-footed, making me feel secure as they navigated the mountains. The scenery was unforgettable—it literally took my breath away, and no photo could capture the true beauty of the Rockies. This trip is one I will treasure forever and a true reminder of the world’s beauty.’

‘Visiting Canada for the very first time was an absolute dream! Coming all the way from Australia, I was blown away by the sheer beauty of the Canadian Rockies and the chance to experience authentic cowboy culture firsthand. Riding out each day with our incredible guide, Ben, made me feel completely at ease – he knew the land, the horses, and the history so well. We saw wildlife everywhere, from elk to eagles, and every ride felt like stepping into a postcard. Adding in the Calgary Stampede at the start of my trip and an exhilarating rafting adventure, this was more than just a holiday, it was an unforgettable adventure that I’ll treasure forever.’
