Some places just feel good for the soul, and this ranch is one of them. Cradled by mountains and blanketed by the vast Montana sky, it’s the perfect setting for a soul-soothing week on horseback. This experience is designed for anyone eager to discover (or rediscover) just how joyful and addictive horse riding can be. With safe, steady horses and experienced wranglers, your confidence will grow with every mile you ride.
Nestled beside a 2.8-million-acre national forest, the scenery here is as generous as the hospitality. Each day, the wranglers will swing open the gate to pine-scented mountain trails, relaxed river rides, lopes across the wide-open range and even a taste of cattle work. Most rides are intentionally slow-paced, but there are three optional fast-paced rides for those ready to spread their wings.
Back at the ranch, farmhouse-style lodges and cabins offer a homely blend of historic charm and modern comfort. If you want to mix things up, there’s a full suite of activities to dip into: fishing, hiking, archery, wildlife watching, clay shooting – or simply curling up on the porch and basking in the serenity.
Bring your boots and hat and leave the rest behind: a week on the mountain prairie with a kind horse and great company is all you really need!
Fast Facts
- Horse Breed:Predominantly Quarter Horses, with some Paints and crossbreeds.
- Pace:Most of the rides are conducted at a walking pace only. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, a faster ride is also on offer where guests will get to enjoy a steady lope when the terrain allows. However, in order to take part in the faster ride, guests will need to pass a ‘lope’ test in an enclosed arena first, to demonstrate you can safely control your horse at this faster pace.
Please note that for safety reasons, the horses are always ridden single-file in a set order. - Type of tack:Western saddles and bridles.
- Time in Saddle:You can choose to ride in the morning, in the afternoon, or both! So on average, 1 to 3 hours per day.

Larger groups and families can settle into the Ranch House – a generous four-bedroom, three-bathroom home that comfortably sleeps eight and provides an easy, relaxed base for a Montana getaway. Each room is equipped with basic toiletries, a hair dryer, and free WiFi.
- Food:Meals at the ranch are served in the welcoming lodge dining room, where all guests are encouraged to interact over the long tables. Mornings begin with hearty homemade favourites – think pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, or a warm breakfast burrito – along with lighter continental options if you prefer something simple before heading out. Lunch keeps you fuelled for the afternoon’s adventures, and in the evening everyone gathers back in the lodge for generous, comforting dishes such as steaks, pork chops, pastas and fresh trout, often enjoyed beside the crackling wood-burning fireplace on cooler nights. This is simply but hearty Western fare.
