Horse riding holidays in India

‘I’ve always had a yearning to ride a Marwari horse, so when Globetrotting offered this ride, I jumped at it. Wow – great decision! My favourite GT rides are those that are the most different from my life at home, and from the time I landed in India, I was blown away! This itinerary had everything I could have asked for. From the beauty, stamina and grace of the Marwawi horses, the warm hospitality of our guides, and the gentle generosity and smiling faces of the local people to the desert dunes, leopard rocks, shining lakes and stunning sunsets, Rajasthan far exceeded my expectations. In that place of extreme contrasts, colours, and bustling activity, there is something unique and special that speaks straight to my heart. Would I go and do it all again? In a heartbeat!’

The magnificent Marwari horses, with their busy little ears, swivelling constantly as we walked and trotted and cantered through villages and dusty tracks and huge sand dunes that you couldn’t see an end to. They are amazing – intelligent, beautiful, gentle and strong. We had dinners by the campfire and woke to cannon shots celebrating Diwali, had crazy fun jeep safaris over rocks, watched beautiful Indian women dancing, and laughed all night to share stories. Beautiful, simple, plentiful local food, served with cheeky grins and shy smiles.  This was, hands down, the best ride I have done!’

‘The Mawari Ride in India was filled with surprises, from pink-coloured goats to crazy tuk tuk rides! Our warm, friendly guides felt like family and went above and beyond for us. I loved the long, yummy, relaxing lunches under the shade of trees, or in locals’ houses, and I was very happy with our accommodation. The loyal Mawari horses with their mesmerising ears and amazing stamina were a highlight. I fell in love with my mare, Gangor. We enjoyed lots of cantering through spectacular countryside and nothing seemed to faze the horses, from disco tractors to flapping flags. What a memorable adventure!’
