Day 1: Arrival
Optional riding day (additional cost)Welcome to France, globetrotters! Today you’ll have plenty of time to make your way to Provence, arriving at your hosts’ elegant 18th-century property early evening (preferably before 6pm). There will be time to settle into your room before a relaxed welcome tour of the stables, arenas and surrounding land. Along the way, your hosts will explain their core philosophy: enlightened equitation built on partnership, curiosity and feel.
Depending on arrival times, there may be the option of a short introductory ridden or groundwork session before dinner (at an additional cost). Your first meal will be prepared by a local chef using seasonal Provençal produce, and served at the house to allow everyone to relax and get to know one another.
-
Day 2: Ridden Session & Afternoon Hack
2 hours in the saddleBonjour, globetrotters! After a self-serve continental breakfast, you’ll don your riding attire and head to the arena for your first full ridden session. These sessions are totally personalised, and may include classical dressage, working equitation, or exploratory work towards lighter aids or bridle-less riding, depending on your experience and interests.
After a buffet lunch of gourmet delights courtesy of your chef, you’ll head out for a relaxed trail ride across the glorious property and surrounding olive groves. The pace is gentle, allowing you to settle into an easy rhythm with your magnificent Lusitano (or sport horse) steed. Finally, another three-course dinner lures you back to the house.
Please keep in mind, this itinerary allows for gentle pockets of downtime, which we actively encourage you to use in whatever way feels right. You might choose to watch other riders’ lessons and deepen your learning, or simply retreat to your room, curl up with a book, explore the beautiful surroundings on foot, or cool off with a swim in the pool.
NB: All lessons are either private (one-on-one) or semi-private (two riders).
-
Day 3: Ridden Session & Liberty Work
1 hour in the saddle, 1 hour in-hand session (on foot)Today’s riding program combines a ridden session in the morning with groundwork later in the day. Under saddle, you’ll continue to build on the themes you explored yesterday, refining communication and balance at your own pace.
In the afternoon, liberty or in-hand work offers a different perspective on the horses and their movement. These sessions invite observation, feel and responsiveness rather than performance, and tend to be equally practical and soul-soothing.
In the evening, dinner is followed by a relaxed in-house wine tasting hosted by a local sommelier, introducing a selection of regional wines with thoughtful context.
-
Day 4: Full-Day Ride in the Luberon
6 to 7 hours in the saddle (Luberon Ride, May-June only)
2 hours in the saddle (other months)The plan for today varies depending on the season: in May and June, there is the option to venture further afield for a full-day ride in the Luberon mountain range. This full-day ride passes through olive groves, open countryside and, when conditions allow, areas known for their fragrant flowering lavender. The pace is mostly at a walk, with some opportunities to trot and canter, and includes a long, relaxed lunch break along the way.
Otherwise, you can stay at the stud and partake in a ridden session and a trail ride with your in-house equestrian experts.
-
Day 5: Ridden Session, Groundwork & Camargue Sunset Ride
2 to 3 hours in the saddleNow that you’re well connected with your horse, you’ll feel each ride building on the last, your confidence and skills growing with each stride. At your hosts’ stud, you’ll enjoy a ridden session and a groundwork session over the course of the day. This may include refining movements under saddle, playful engagement with working equitation obstacles, or confidence-building exercises, depending on your goals and preferences.
Later in the day, you’ll travel to the famous Camargue wetlands for a sunset ride on the native white Camargue ‘Horses of the Sea’. You’ll laugh with glee as they barrel along the trails towards the water, flamingos looking on, herons taking flight. As the light softens and you canter across the beach, you may have to pinch yourself – is this a dream?!
-
Day 6: Arles Market Morning & Final Riding Session
1 to 2 hours in the saddleThis morning begins with a visit to the markets in Arles, a Roman town known for its vibrant atmosphere and fabulous food culture. Wander the stalls, enjoy a coffee, and savour the many pleasures of Provence.
Back at the stud, your final riding session brings together your whole week’s work. This may be an arena session followed by a trail ride, or a combination of riding and groundwork – shaped by what feels most valuable as your holiday draws to a close. Finally, you’ll gather with your fellow globetrotters and your wonderful hosts for an exquisite farewell dinner, celebrating new friendships and an unforgettable week.
-
Day 7: Departure
Optional riding day (additional cost)After breakfast, it’s time to pack your bags and say your farewells. Depending on your travel plans, it may be possible to arrange an additional short ride or hack (additional cost), to squeeze every last drop out of your time in Provençal paradise.
-
Lavender Fields Ride
May-June onlyOur May and June Provence Ride departures coincide with the region’s most iconic moment, when the lavender fields erupt into bloom and waves of purple stretch to the horizon. These special departures include the option of a full day riding through the lavender itself, breathing in that unmistakable scent in one of the most photogenic, pinch-me riding experiences in southern France. This immersive full-day ride replaces the usual riding and groundwork scheduled for that day in the itinerary, allowing you to slow right down and fully soak up this iconic Provençal experience.
-
Optional Massage
During your stay, you may also wish to indulge in a Rider-Specific Massage (€75 payable in cash direct, can be arranged upon arrival).
The Amma Sitting Massage is performed with you seated on an ergonomic chair, much like being in the saddle, so that your posture, balance and anchoring can be analysed and enhanced.
- Pressure and kneading: activates circulation and wakes up the muscles
- Stretching: restores mobility, flexibility, and breathing capacity
- Percussion: releases deep tension and resets energetic balance
The duration varies from 30 to 50 minutes according to your personal needs, always adapted to your current rhythm, here and now. The session is energetic, effective, and precise, specifically designed to support a rider’s posture, stability, and focus, while also working on deep organs and the whole emotional system.
-
Non-Riders
Non-riders are welcome to join their riding partners on the Provence Ride, and have the flexibility to shape each day exactly as they wish. Time can be spent unwinding at the stud – swimming in the pool, strolling through olive groves, reading in the shade or simply soaking up the peaceful Provençal atmosphere. We also strongly recommend that non-riders have their own hire car, as the region is rich with world-class sights within an hour’s drive, from hilltop villages and vineyards to historic towns, markets and iconic Provençal landscapes, making it easy to dip in and out of the activity at the stud while enjoying the very best of southern France.
Transfer information
Transfers are available from the following locations for €125 per person one way, payable in cash upon arrival (there are no card facilities available, cash only):
- Marseille Airport (approximately 40 minutes)
- Avignon TGV train station (45 minutes)
- Aix-en-Provence TGV train station (45 minutes)
- Marseille Saint-Charles TGV train station (1 hour)
Please ensure you inform Globetrotting of your transfer option as these need to be booked in advance.
Self-drive is also an option.
If suitable flights to Marseille are unavailable from your origin, you may instead fly into Nice. Please note however, there is no transfer service from Nice, so you would need to hire a car; the drive to the stud takes approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes and is straightforward.

Beginner
Reasonably confident riding a horse at a walk, a rising trot, and learning to canter.
Intermediate
Confident and in control riding at all paces outside an arena, but not riding regularly. Comfortable and competent using aids {the language of your leg, seat and hands} to communicate with your horse.
Strong Intermediate

Strong intermediate riders are comfortable and competent in all three gaits; able to post or sit to the trot; have an independent seat while cantering (don’t hold onto the saddle); and can pick up the correct canter lead. They can also navigate more complex terrain, including asking a horse to sidestep and jump over a small obstacle.
