Day 1: Arrival
GroundworkYippee, the moment has finally come – you’re off to the glorious Shoalhaven for five days of what can only be described as total bliss! If you’ve opted for the transfer service, you will be collected from Sydney Airport at approximately 9:30am and transferred to Cambewarra Estate Winery in Bangalee (unless you’re self-driving, in which case, please arrive at the winery by 12pm). Here you’ll have a meet and greet with your ride host and guide, Tiffany Gale, over a sumptuous two-course lunch paired with a glass of wine.
After lunch, you’ll head to your accommodation at Champagne Hill to freshen up and change into your riding gear. You’ll then hit the round yard and get to know your trusty steed over a groundwork session, creating a strong foundation of trust, connection and relaxation. Tiff is passionate about natural horsemanship and whether you’re new to the concept or a dab hand, it’s sure to be a highlight of your holiday. If time permits, you’ll saddle up and enjoy a short introductory ride.
Afterwards, you will retire with a glass of Prosecco and a cheese board just in time to soak up the sunset and the gorgeous views over Morton National Park before sitting down to dinner. If it’s a balmy evening, you’ll be treated to a wildlife/stargazing walk on which you just might spot a rock wallaby, wombat or eastern grey kangaroo.
-
Day 2: Bugong National Park
4 hours in the saddleAfter a big country breakfast, you’ll head to the horses and do some focus and relaxation work before setting out on the trail. Today you’ll trit-trot through Bugong National Park, winding through quintessential Australian bush in the aptly named Shoalhaven Sandstone Forest. If you’re lucky, hidden amongst the banksias, grass trees, turpentines and hard-leaved scribbly gums, you may spot an echidna, yellow bellied glider, yellow tailed black cockatoo or a goanna. The park’s unspoilt nature, combined with the nearby escarpment and Shoalhaven River, creates a strong sense of peace and solitude.
After a canter along the open tracks, you’ll reach a breathtaking clifftop overlooking the Shoalhaven Gorge – a view you won’t forget in a hurry! Finally, you’ll arrive at Coolendel Lookout, having worked up an appetite from the morning’s adventures. But never fear – you’ll be met with a high tea with Prosecco scones, served atop rock formations overlooking the Shoalhaven River, Morton National Park and the Ettrema wilderness.
Once everyone’s bellies and eyes are satisfied, you’ll meander back through the park before breezing through the vineyards of Lyrebird Organic Winery for a wine tasting of Chambourcin (red) and fortified wines (port). You’ll then unwind with a glass of your choice accompanied by local cheeses and condiments in front of the potbelly fire.
Dinner will be at the award-winning Growers by Ponte. Tucked away in the verdant hinterland of the Shoalhaven, The Growers by Ponte is more than just a restaurant; it’s where coast meets country. Helmed by the team behind the award-winning Ponte Bar and Dining, the menu is a celebration of the Shoalhaven’s rich agricultural roots. The kitchen focuses on farm-to-plate dining, utilising herbs and vegetables harvested directly from their on-site kitchen garden. Their cellar celebrates the region’s rich viticulture, offering a curated selection of wines from the finest local vineyards. Then it’s back to Champagne Hill for a well-earned rest. -
Day 3: Beach day
2 hours in the saddleToday’s itinerary will make the most of every single minute of your time on the South Coast. Depending on the tide, your beach ride will either be at sunrise or in the early afternoon, so today’s schedule will be decided accordingly.
For the beach ride, you’ll tiptoe along a golf course, before reaching a pristine beach stretching as far as the eye can see. Now’s your chance to enjoy some lovely canters along a sandy beach – a true highlight of the trip that will have you feeling completely at one with your horse.
The winery you’ll have the pleasure of visiting is Two Figs Winery, overlooking the glorious Shoalhaven River, for a premium wine tasting of whites, rosés, reds and stickies. You’ll also head over to Berry for a boutique shopping experience, and let’s not forget a visit to the infamous doughnut van, where you can enjoy some applause-worthy hot cinnamon doughnuts.
And just in case you haven’t quite had enough great food and wine, lunch or dinner is Ramox Restaurant, which is located within the striking contemporary architecture of the Bundanon Art Museum on the iconic Shoalhaven River (think Arthur Boyd country). It focuses on a paddock-to-plate philosophy, offering seasonal Modern Australian menus built around quality produce sourced from the surrounding South Coast region.
For wines, the restaurant is noted for championing local flavour, with a list that includes local wines from the Shoalhaven region, specifically a partnership with nearby Cupitt’s Estate. You’ll then step into the preserved studio and homestead to witness the artistic life and natural setting that profoundly inspired the great Australian painter, Arthur Boyd. No doubt you’ll be asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow tonight, globetrotters!
**Please be advised, today’s order of activities is largely dependent on the ocean’s tides, with the beach ride taking place at the best possible time to ensure there is a large stretch of sand on which to enjoy a windswept canter.
-
Day 4: Shoalhaven River
5 hours in the saddleIf you can fit in another bite, a beautiful breakfast is provided at Champagne Hill. You’ll then get reacquainted with your horse and your guides will lead you out through the bush in search of a colony of threatened grey-headed flying foxes. You’ll scamper down alongside a mountain of amazing rock formations, with opportunities to trot and canter along the way, before reaching the Shoalhaven River for a picnic lunch and swim, should you feel so inclined. Then after a siesta, you’ll gather all your pluck to steer your horse back up the mountain and return to Champagne Hill.
After this exhilarating ride, there’s the opportunity to enjoy a remedial massage (at an additional cost – approximately $110 for 45mins) in the privacy of the Pool House. Should you wish to indulge, it’s recommended that you make a booking at the same time that you reserve your saddle seat so you don’t miss out. The evening will be spent relaxing around the pool or the open fire (depending on the weather) with a Champagne Hill specialty cocktail before a casual on-site dinner and cards night.
-
Day 5: Ride and depart
2 to 3 hours in the saddleIt’s the last day of your ride today, boo! Once you’ve lapped up one final scrumptious breakfast at Champagne Hill, you’ll take the reins and follow you guides down nearby Abernethy’s Road, winding alongside caves, rock formations and streams with mountain valley views. Then you’ll head back up the mountain, where you’ll be able to really get the horses going with long trots and canters through the pristine bush.
Finally, the time will come to bid adieu to the horse who has carried you bravely on your journey. You’ll enjoy a final lunch at the homestead then wave goodbye to your hosts and Champagne Hill and depart, bellies and hearts full!
If you have booked the transfer service, you’ll be picked up and taken back to Sydney Airport, arriving by approximately 4:30 – 5pm.
-
Additional Activities
Guests have the opportunity to enjoy a remedial massage (at an additional cost) on day 4 of the 5-day itinerary. The approximate cost is $110 for 45 minutes, or $135 for 60mins, payable direct in cash, card or direct debit. It is recommended that should you wish to indulge in this alternate activity, bookings be made at the same time you reserve your saddle seat (or as early as possible) so you don’t miss out.
*Price is subject to change.

‘Every day of this ride was enjoyable and the value for money was excellent. I had an especially nice time on day 3 when we rode down to the river and played around skimming stones, then tucked into a simple saddle bag lunch. I was very happy with both the yummy home cooked meals and the gourmet restaurant dining. Our hosts were super friendly, lovely and kind to the horses and guests. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I rode Phoenix, a gorgeous, nice and sensible horse, and on the beach ride I had Tex, whose personality made it a very fun experience.’

‘Tiff and her parents were incredibly kind and thoughtful hosts. The comfortable beds and delicious home-cooked breakfast were standout features of my stay. The quality of the horses was exceptional. I rode Flick, who was calm and an absolute pleasure to ride. All of the horses had beautiful temperaments. During my stay, I learned a great deal from Tiff and her gentle techniques. This was my first time riding bitless, and I found it to be an excellent experience for both horse and rider. Getting to know Bernie, our guide, was a real pleasure, a local horse enthusiast and a lovely person. Every day was a joy, but the beach ride and the high tea on the cliff face were truly unforgettable experiences. I highly recommend this ride!’

This ride was more than just a holiday, it was something that really stayed with me. There was a moment after our first canter where I found myself unexpectedly emotional. It felt like a release, like being out there in that environment just let everything slow down and settle. That’s something I didn’t expect but really valued.
What stood out most was the feeling across the whole experience. Everything just flowed. The people, the horses, the environment, it all worked together in a way that felt effortless. You never feel rushed or out of place, you just get to be present in it.
There’s a really special balance to the place. It feels calm and grounding but also full of life and energy. I left not really wanting to go home, and even a couple of weeks later I still feel like a part of me is there.
It’s one of those experiences that’s hard to fully explain, you just have to feel it.

‘The Shoalhaven ride is the first ride I have done with Globetrotters, and I loved every minute! The people were fabulous, the food was fabulous, and my horse for the ride, Shiloh, was outstanding. Thanks to Tiff and team for a wonderful experience and all the happy memories.’
Sarah B
‘All the amazing reviews about this wonderful holiday are true, with beautiful horses, superb guides, amazing scenery, lovely hosts, delicious food, and great accommodation. The team looked after us so well, welcoming us into their family and providing for every need. There were so many highlights of this holiday, but the two that stand out were, firstly, sharing it with my daughter, which made it so special. We created so many lovely memories and laughed a lot. Secondly, the introduction to my beautiful horse, Buckley, in the round yard using natural horsemanship techniques was a very special experience. Learning to meet him on his terms was a wonderful start to our relationship, and I am so grateful for this opportunity. It was a magical five days and such a privilege to have this experience.’

‘The Shoalhaven Ride was our third ride with Globetrotters, and each one has been excellent. This ride offers a wonderful experience for riders of all levels; the horses’ welfare is paramount, their education is second to none, and the trails, beaches, tracks, and climbs provide beautiful scenery and sensory overload. The combination of horse riding and wineries is simply magical. Every day was different, yet each was filled with taste sensations and beautiful wines to sample. Tiff, Lorraine, Lenny, and Bernie were the ultimate hosts and guides, and new friendships have been formed. If the opportunity arises, the Shoalhaven Ride is one not to be missed!’

‘This ride is everything I wanted it to be and more. Thanks to the amazing experience that Tiff has curated, I had an absolutely incredible three days. Her horses are clearly family, and she was open to sharing her knowledge and experience with us. The holiday had a wonderful balance of amazing riding, wine tasting, and food; I truly couldn’t have asked for more. This ride did wonders for me. I was able to be fully present for three days and just enjoy the amazing experience. I have taken away such fond memories of cantering along the beach at sunrise, swimming with the horses in the river, and cantering up some amazing hills surrounded by nature. I would happily return and can see why this trip is always booked out. It was my first trip away from my children and it did wonders for my soul to just be me, not mum, for three days doing what I love. Thank you for such an amazing experience, Tiff and family.’

‘There was nothing not to love about the Shoalhaven ride. I was so welcomed by Tiff, her awesome parents, and Bernie. The room was lovely and beautifully cared for, and every meal was a delight, even the packed lunch. I rode Shiloh, a beautiful forward horse that was also easy to stop, and Slim on the beach ride, who was also beautiful. I enjoyed both; they were a perfect fit for me. Tiff shared the same outlook on horse training as I do, following the same trainers, which was so exciting for me. Despite some tricky weather, the sun shone on the last day, and we had two awesome rides: beach early, then down the national park with lovely views and a fun canter back.’
Nicole B
‘If you love horse riding in beautiful surroundings with fantastic people and delicious food, then this is the perfect ride for you! The hosts were outstanding, making us feel at home and very welcome, and we didn’t want to leave. All the food was awesome, especially the cheese and the lasagna – I need the recipe! I rode Flick on the Trail ride and Vegas on the Beach ride, and both horses were amazing, but Flick was just like a supermodel, with a beautiful trot and a sweet disposition. He gave me heaps of confidence and renewed my love for riding. Tiff and Bernie were great too, giving us lots of tips to help us feel more confident, and they were quick to recognize our riding abilities and match us to the horses that suited us. There were many standout moments, from the wine tasting (so much laughter) to the beach ride, and the afternoon spent in Berry. However, my favorite was the last day with a packed lunch at the top of the mountain’
Marnie T
‘This was my first-ever Globetrotting experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better start! I can’t fault anything – the itinerary was wonderful and included a great range of riding experiences. The food and wine were fabulous, and the accommodation was private, well-equipped, and super comfortable. Tiff, the host, was gracious and generous, as were her lovely parents who kept the home humming and produced delicious food and lots of great conversations! The beautiful horses were well-loved, cared for, and delightful to ride. It was a truly memorable experience.’
Carol M
‘I have just finished the Shoalhaven Ride with Tiff and her beautiful horses. The property is immaculate, and the accommodation was very comfortable. Every meal, either home-cooked or dining out, was beautiful. I rode the beautiful Flick, who was sweet and looked after me. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer horse and riding bitless requires a lot of trust but Tiff spent time working with our connection to our horse before the ride, it was amazing. The beach ride was a highlight, as was the high tea with Prosecco scones on the cliff top. I enjoyed every minute and will be going again’
Rebecca H
‘Every day was different and amazing I couldn’t pick a favourite day, they were all so good! The hosts were fantastic. I felt very comfortable and looked after. They went above and beyond. Every meal was just divine! I would definitely recommend this ride.’
Jane T
‘Tiff and her parents really made the trip special, with great riding and lovely horses! The bedroom was beautiful, and I really appreciated the cooking. The other standout was the wood-burning stove being lit on two cooler days, which made the sitting room so cosy and reminded me of home. I rode Shiloh—I loved that he was responsive both for speeding up and slowing down! I enjoyed him being the lead horse on the last day and showing off his endurance trot! I also really loved riding in bitless bridles.’
Bridget
‘The attention to detail in the presentation of our rooms was incredible – down to hand-picked flowers with a lovely smell, the bed being turned down every evening with a little dessert & even finding a candle having been lit in the bathroom when going to shower after returning from riding. I rode Shiloh – I loved him! He was perfectly forward without feeling any worry it would be difficult to hold him back. I really appreciated the consistency of riding the same horse both days so I could get to know him a bit. Both Tiff and Bernie are so amazing and have inspired me to continue riding for as long as I can.’
Lindy B
‘This Globetrotting experience provided the perfect short getaway, balancing thrilling equestrian adventures, awe-inspiring scenery, and indulgent, luxurious relaxation. It was an absolute 5-star delight!’

‘Tiff was the loveliest, most generous and kind guide/host; she and her parents made us feel so welcome and spoiled from the moment we walked on their property. Tiff’s knowledge of not only horsemanship but also the area we explored was impressive. I rode Shiloh, a gorgeous little pocket rocket. Not only were the horses lovely and healthy, but it was obvious that Tif loved each and every one of them very much. The bond she had with them was just incredible and so inspiring. The whole experience was perfection. I wish I could bottle up the feeling of happiness and contentment I felt while riding through the stunning landscapes in Shoalhaven.’
Deborah S
‘So you love your horse? I know I do. But I only like riding horses that are truly happy, well cared for and LOVED. So go bitless riding with Tiffany and her horses – the love will blow your mind. If you’re lucky enough to ride Phoenix – let the rein loose and let this amazing horse teach YOU a thing or two! Tiffany and Bernie are true horsewomen. They were kind, generous and flexible, and so were Tiffany’s parents, who hosted us. I felt very cared for, both on and off the horse. Did I say go bitless with Tiffany?!?’
Patricia E
‘The Shoalhaven Ride is a wonderful experience. We were warmly welcomed and looked after very well by an extremely lovely family. The accommodation was excellent and all meals were delicious. It was great to have the opportunity to try so many different local foods, all accompanied by a variety of wines. My horse, Freddie, was very responsive and I really enjoyed riding him. My favourite day was when we rode for 6 hours in the sunshine, then cooled off in the pool, before enjoying cocktails, a cheese platter, a massage, a delicious meal, and finally music, dancing and laughter.’
