Don’t leave home without…TOMS
So when you’re out of the saddle of an evening, you’ll want some lightweight shoes that you can slip on around the campfire or for the walk to the dining area. While thongs (or flip flops) are good, what happens if it’s raining and muddy or you step on a thorn in Africa? That’s why we can’t go past TOMS!
TOMS shoes are based on traditional alpargatas from Argentina and are made with a soft, canvas upper and a rubber sole, produced using eco-friendly materials. The elastic ‘v’ on the top of the foot makes for an easy fit, so if you have a wide foot you will still be able to enjoy these shoes. They take no room to pack, don’t add any excess weight to your luggage and are as comfy as.
But I think the BEST part about TOMS is the humanitarian story behind the brand. Founder Blake Mycoskie established TOMS in 2006 after witnessing the hardships faced by children growing up without shoes on his travels to developing nations. Wanting to help, he conceived a simple but strong premise: for every pair of shoes purchased, one pair of shoes is donated to a child in need. This One for One idea continues to this day!
I used to order my TOMS online as they ship to Australia, but I have recently discovered Myer also sells them so that’s where I go now to add to my TOMS collection. There are so many styles and colours to choose from you can get one for every outfit in your cupboard!
Who else practically lives in these shoes all year round?
