Every globetrotter that we’ve sent to Mongolia who has had Gur as their guide has loved his warmth, humour and endearing hospitality. Here is a brief insight into his life as a much-loved Globetrotting guide.
How long have you been running horse riding holidays?
My first horse riding tour took place in Khovsgol Aimag in 2010.
And what was the background, history, reason for starting?
It was a nice opportunity for a countryside boy to show my homeland to Westerners and meet new people.
How many guest horses do you have?
My family had horses and a few years ago we moved to Ulaanbaatar. I can say I’m born on saddle. Now I work as a guide when someone need my help I can be a wrangler.
Describe your herd of horses in four words.
Strong, good friends, smart.
What is the philosophy or ethos behind your horse riding experiences in Mongolia?
Travelling through remote places.
What do you love most about your job (guiding)?
Meeting different people, visiting new places.
What is the most challenging part?
Weather, new place.
Why should globetrotters sign up for this ride?
You will feel real nomadic life and horse culture.
A tip that every globetrotter must know before signing up for this ride.
Despite their small size, they are horses, not ponies.
