Horse riding holidays in Botswana

‘My experience with Globetrotting was unbelievable. As a solo female traveller, I was naturally a bit nervous; however, every transfer (by plane, car and Mokoro!) was so smooth and organised. I didn’t have to think twice about anything and felt so well looked after. My safari in the Okavango Delta was incredible! All of the guides and staff were so welcoming and friendly. They truly made it feel like a home away from home. The horses are so well-loved and looked after, which was really important to me when booking the trip. They are sure-footed, gentle, and know and genuinely enjoy their jobs. The team was very focused on ensuring we enjoyed the horses we rode, and that each horse was paired appropriately to suit the rider’s ability and needs. The rides were mind-blowing and exceeded all of my expectations. I saw everything I hoped to see, and then some! If you are on the fence about it, take this as a message to do it!’

‘The Okavango Delta Ride in Botswana was the best holiday experience of my life; I absolutely loved every minute! At 64 years of age, and also not as brave a rider as I used to be, I was a little concerned that I had over-challenged myself by booking this ride. Also, I had never travelled alone before, so the whole thing was a bit nerve-racking. However, I was totally blown away by the whole experience—pinch me moments after pinch me moments. In fact, I was so overwhelmed at times with gratitude and joy that I would break into tears. It had been a lifelong dream to go to Africa. There were so many different animals, and you get really close on horseback; it’s fantastic. How the horses are looked after is a major concern to me; thank goodness they are really well treated and are the main priority of the grooms and head guide. It was worth every cent.’

‘This trip had been in the works for a long time, and I had very high expectations, and they were all exceeded. It was by far the best trip I’ve ever had! Everything was perfect, from my trusted horses Moumo and Waterford, who made the experience so much better, to the amazing, knowledgeable guides who kept me safe and fulfilled my dreams with a canter through the water and exciting canters with giraffes and zebras. The game viewing was incredible, and I got to see pretty much all the animals I wanted. The team was very hospitable and friendly, making me feel right at home. The accommodations were excellent and comfortable, and the pool was a great relief from the high heat of October. Sleeping under the stars at night was magical. It made all of my wildest horsegirl dreams come true, and I want to do it all over again!’

‘The Okavango Delta was magnificent. We saw elephants and hippos and antelope right off the bat! Each day was just one more adventure after another. I rode two beautiful mares who took great care of me. I met some wonderful people from all over the world and we all had a blast. But best of all were our staff and guides. Because my sister is a non-rider, she had jeep safaris every day with Rodgers, who was a savant at finding animals. He was fabulous, as were Mmushi and Boi, who guided us on horseback. I never felt unsafe or threatened in any way. All in all, I could not have wished for a better birthday present. It was a life-changing experience and one I will never forget.’
